What will the pattern hold in the short-to-medium term?

If there was ever a signal that we do not want to see, it is the Southeast ridge in winter. It’s looking like Valentine’s Day will see the ridge, and thus very warm temperatures across the Southeast. Some locations could even reach the low 70s, especially along beach locations.

Upper Ridge over the Gulf look impressive around the 15th:

This pattern may hold for a while, or it could shift. The one thing that is more of a guarantee is rain across the Southeast from all the tropical moisture. However this would also keep temperatures above average.

In fact, that could be all the way into the 24th.
