Soggy Southeast Super Bowl Sunday

While a winter storm will unfold in the North with a mixed bag of precipitation, including rain, sleet, freezing rain, and snow, here across the Southeast we can expect mainly a soaking rain. There could even be some severe storms that will make their way onshore into the Panhandle of Florida and South Georgia. These storms have the potential to be strong to severe. A wintry mix could momentarily fall across the mountains and perhaps even the foothills.

Please find the map and map legend below for what we are expecting.

Area A – Mainly all rain for this event. No snow or mixing is expected.

Area B – Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday into Monday.

Area C – A wintry mix is possible in the mountains, but is not expected to last or become significant. The mix is expected to change over to rain.

It will be too warm for any snow across the Southeast, despite rumors you may hear. Of course there could be a brief period of some sleet across western NC, but it would change over quickly to rain.
