Southeast set to sizzle this weekend; record highs likely as temps top 90

We’re not even into April yet, and parts of the Southeast are set to hit 90 degrees on Saturday, and maybe even Friday and Sunday. However, Saturday looks to be the hottest in our upcoming “mini-heatwave.” The hot spot will be Florida, where temperatures could top 90 for three days straight, which is the definition of a heatwave.

The positive side is that there will be sunshine in the midst of all the doom and gloom. Sunshine helps those who feel depressed and are stuck inside during this time.

However, it will also draw people to come outside, which needs to be used with caution. Large gatherings or even small gatherings are not advised right now due to the pandemic. If you do go out, and if there are no restrictions for your area, try not to venture too far from home. Also, take it easy as to not injure yourself and end up in the hospital, where the system is already strained.

Again, now is the time to make sure your air conditioning units are functional in your home and car, as things will continue to get warmer as we head into late spring and early summer.

Try to chill if you can and take it easy, and perhaps enjoy a sit out on your deck or porch during the nice weather we are about to have.

Stay safe!
