Tornado Threat Increasing in Eastern NC, Southeast VA

On Christmas Eve (Thursday), folks in eastern NC and southeast VA will need to keep their eye to the sky as potentially dangerous thunderstorms will roll in from the south. These storms could be supercell thunderstorms, which are rotating and could spawn tornadoes. The SPC has updated the area below in the mage to a Level 3/5 or Enhanced outlook, which means chances are enhanced for severe storms. Tornadoes are becoming increasingly possible ahead of a cold front, and may not be limited to just the orange area below. The yellow and even dark green areas could be under the gun tomorrow for severe storms.

The timing is anywhere from noon to 7pm across the area, so folks should be alert all day not matter what. Make sure you have a media source for warnings from the NWS and take all actions as suggested in the warnings. Share this breaking article to alert friends and family!
