Tropical Disturbance Possible This Week Offshore

Currently there is a 50% chance of formation for a tropical system in orange just off our coast this week. The discussion is in the image. This system, if it does develop, will stay offshore and no direct impacts to the Carolinas are expected, other than high surf and rip currents. The expected conditions below are possible over the next 5 days.

We will wait and see if this system forms first. As of now, models are not too enthusiastic about this becoming a major storm. The ICON model keeps what could be, at most, a tropical depression offshore.

If this changes or a stronger system is expected, we will update. Any heavy rains are also expected to stay offshore. Elsewhere in the tropics, things are starting to become the busiest of the season, as we are now in the peak of hurricane season.

We are also watching a disturbance that just left Africa, and could be a cause for concern. The below area has a 60% chance of formation, and not in a good spot since it has plenty of time to develop.

No worries just yet but this is not something we like to see. Please follow along with us this week for updates. Please share this article for awareness!
