Tropical System Forms in the Gulf This Week, Brings Rain to the Southeast

We are having our first heatwave of the season in some locations, and some may be concerned about it leading to a blistering hot summer. Some short-term news is that heavy tropical rains in the Southeast will put a damper on any heat potential. Not all the rain will come at once, however. Some locations will receive more rain than others.

In fact, the GFS puts down a good amount of rain for the Southeast, up to 4-5 inches in some locations. Florida will see the heaviest rain amounts. This rain will be heavy due to it’s moist tropical origin.

Keep your umbrella in your car this week, and expect travel delays as traffic will likely be heavier than usual, especially in any downpours. Leave yourself extra time to commute.

Never drive into flooded roads, as the water may be deeper than you think.
