Watching the Tropics

We are continuing to watch the tropics behind Barry. All eyes should not get lost on him since there could be a tropical wave that could develop in the South Atlantic over the coming days. Currently the NHC gives this wave a 20 % chance of formation over the next 5 days. If it stays on a straight course it could impact the Lesser Antilles, however chances of development are still low. This is only something to watch for now as hurricane season is in full swing.

The official NHC discussion regarding this tropical wave:

1. Shower activity has become less organized since yesterday in
association with a tropical wave located about midway between the
Cabo Verde Islands and the Windward Islands. Any development of the
wave is expected to be slow to occur during the next few days while
the system moves westward at 15 to 20 mph. Environmental conditions
are expected to become unfavorable for development by early next
week.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.
