Where is the Snow and Cold?

It was thought to have gotten cold after New Years, but after recent model data, we are determining that is not the case. At first glance, January did look warm, but only for about the first week or so. Now, in the 8-14 day outlook, it is looking warmer past the first week of this month. It could be warm all the way up to the 15th.

NOAA CPC’s outlook valid from 1/9 to 1/15:

What happens after the 15th could be trending colder, however it is not clear. NOAA does have below normal temperatures for the eastern half of the country between the 12th and 25th. Therefore, the month may not end like it started, but we will see. It could be a warm month, or it could flip halfway through.

Stay tuned as we will be tracking the cold that is needed for snow!
