Winter is not Over!

Winter is not over yet. We will experience a brief warmup next weekend, but do not believe we are out of it. Pattern will shift one more time to a more winter-like feeling with temperatures 20-30 degrees below average.

The reason we have a strong belief in one last winter cold bast is because of the MJO. The MJO is forecasted to be phase three and what that means is that colder temperatures are likely to return for the Eastern US.

GEFS 500mb Geopotential Height for 18z TUE April 17th, 2018:

When the MJO is in phase three next week, it corresponds to active weather for the eastern US. With the active weather in the eastern US it will then create a ridge to build over the Atlantic with a trough behind it which will bring colder temperatures back down into the Southeast.

GEFS 2m Temp Anomaly for 18z TUE April 17th, 2018:

We could have temperatures much below average across the US down into Florida! Do not be fooled by the stretch we will experience this week because colder temperatures are making a comeback next week. Stay here with us as we get you prepared for what mother nature has to bring.
