Wintry Mess in Store Friday for the Carolinas

Here we go for another southern wintry event. This time it will be for the coast and inland. Snow could make it as far west as Charlotte, however the heaviest snow is expected to stay east of the city.

Columbia, this could be your chance to shine if you like winter, however it won’t be good, or safe, if there is an ice storm.

Travel is not advised on Friday or even on Saturday. Consult your local NWS office for any travel and safety information as an ultimate source.

We’re not putting out totals since these are hard to pin down. But what we have a better grasp on are the types of precip.

Much of eastern SC could see sleet and freezing rain, and possibly an ice storm from Allendale to Florence. Coast NC to Fayetteville could also see sleet and freezing rain, and could shut down schools and businesses.

Stay safe on Friday, as conditions could turn dangerous across eastern NC and SC. Again, travel is discouraged.
