Another Tropical System Possible in 10 Days

Hurricane season is well underway, and we are seeing signs of an “open Gulf” where moisture and disturbances freely move out of the Gulf and northward and up the coast. The potential strength of this system is not known. However, the GEFS is in good agreement for a low just west of Florida around the 12th.

At this point, the GFS only has it going into western FL as a tropical wave. However, this will change from run to run and we will have to keep an eye on it. It doesn’t seem as if this storm will be strong enough to be named, but the point is we have our next tropical system to watch.
