Coastal Storm Likely to Bring Impacts to the Carolinas This Weekend

It’s October, and that means it’s time for Nor’easters, or “coastal storms” down here. A Nor’easter technically happens up North. This one will get started down here, however. The timing is Saturday into Sunday. We are expecting High Impacts in ENC as well as the OBX due to the timing of the storm and King Tides (higher than normal tides). This will result in beach erosion and coastal flooding. The OBX have already been pounded by rough surf this season, and many houses have collapsed into the ocean as a result.

We think it could get really bad this weekend, so help us spread the word so others can’t say they didn’t know! You can use the share buttons at the bottom of this post.

It will also be windy, with gusts to 60mph at the Coast.

AREA A: High Impacts. Most intense conditions this weekend, especially Sunday. Coastal flooding and and widespread power outages as well as more homes collapsing. Soaking wind-driven rain. Winds will gust to 60pmh.

AREA B: Moderate Impacts. Gusts to 40mph and there will be scattered power outages. There will also be a wind-driven rain.

AREA C: Low Impacts. Gusts to 30mph and a steady soaking rain this weekend. Power outages will be widely separated.

We hope you stay safe this weekend and PLEASE avoid the Outer Banks! Please help spread the word!
