Late January Could be Complete Flip from Late December

The overall pattern is changing, and as we dive into January, it’s looking colder and colder. The question is where the cold will be centered. As of now, it appears a major Arctic Outbreak will grip the nations’ midsection sometime on and after the 20th.

Could there be some winter storm threats before this? Yes. We are eyeballing a favorable pattern beginning next weekend on the 15th and 16th.

Snow is not guaranteed, however there will be multiple storms sliding up the Southeast coast. But the big story will be the Frigid Cold after the 20th.

The Canadian model, not the GFS, has much of the country in the freezer on the 24th.

This time, it looks to be deep, sustained cold. So the days of going to the beach in the winter are over. It’s almost like we are paying for the unusually warm end of December.

The recent cold that has been over Alaska will make its way down to the U.S., and could push all the way to the coast. But, it’s still too early to determine if that will actually happen.

What it seems like, is the cold will certainly affect the western Carolinas.

That’s all we have for now, stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and weeks!
