SNOWFALL FORECAST: Southern Slider to Bring Snow to NC,TN,VA

It almost seems impossible that a winter storm will impact the region tonight into Monday, as temperatures have been insanely high since Christmas. But don’t let that fool you, as patterns can change very quickly and temperatures can drop. And that seems like the case with our next system tonight.

It’s tough to get it to snow in the South, but we will see some light amounts across NC. South Carolina is not expected to get a single flake from this system, but a flurry or two is not completely out of the question.

Below is our final call for our winter storm system. Please see the legend below the image for our snowfall forecast.

AREA A: This area will experience mainly sleet with up to a dusting of snow. Sleet amounts could be quite high, up to 1/2 an inch.
AREA B: This area will also see a lot of sleet, but snow will accumulate 1-3″.
AREA C: This area will see 3-6″ of snow.
AREA D: This area will see 4-8″ of snow.
AREA D: This area will see 6-10″ with locally higher amounts in any given random location.

Behind this system as it exits, temperatures will plummet and will be quite frigid by Tuesday morning. Lows could be in the single digits across VA!

Elsewhere, sub-freezing conditions are expected across much of NC and the northern half of SC. Black ice is a strong possibility, so work and schools may want to not open on Tuesday also.

Consult your local NWS office for official snow and ice forecasts and safety information. Do not rely on Carolina Weather Authority for official information.

However we do hope to bring you accuracy.

Stay safe, and enjoy!
