There will be a winter storm moving into the East on Tuesday night into Wednesday. This winter storm will spread across many states and will cover a large area before it runs into the Northeast.The precipitation could start off as snow, and then change over to a wintry mix. Enough snow and ice could fall that would disrupt motorists and schools Wednesday morning, as delays will be likely. Schools may want to consider a 2 hour delay for Wednesday, however we will update if a delays or closings will be necessary.

Philly is not the only area that could see wintry precip. Southern New England is also included with this threat, as snow, sleet, and freezing rain begin to move in around lunchtime Wednesday. Residents that live in higher elevations can expect higher snow amounts from this storm. For now, the highest totals are looking like they will be in the interior mountains.
Snow totals are shown with the NAM model below. Please note, these are only computer model totals and sleet is taken into consideration which would lessen overall snow amounts where prolonged sleet falls. What is most likely for Philly is a light coating of snow and then sleet and ice on top.
The storm will exit by Wednesday night, and it will turn windy with colder air ushering in behind. There is the threat for a re-freeze of any standing water or slush, therefore travel will remain treacherous.
